So, you've probably heard me talk so much about local SEO and the importance of local SEO and having a Google business profile, but today I wanted to take a look at the cold hard facts. Right? Today, you're going to hear it from the horse's mouth. You don't have to take my word for it anymore. I did a quick Google search for local SEO stats as well as local SEO statistics 2025. And this is what Google is telling me.
The first thing I want to look at is this right here, high search volume. So nearly half of all Google searches have local intent. That means that literally half of what people are using Google for these days is to search for local businesses. You know, people use Google for doing research, amongst other things, looking at news articles. But at this point in 2025, half of all of the Google searches are to find a local business. And this equates to over 1.5 billion near me searches every month. So when somebody's searching something like dispensary near me or dispensary Los Angeles, right, that's a local intent search term. Of course, not all 1.5 billion of these is for the cannabis space. It also applies to barber shop near me or auto repair near me, other local businesses as well. But we're right here, right where the cannabis is a part of that and the volume of searches is there. People are using Google to find local businesses every single day. If we look at this other Google page, again, it reiterates that.
So 46%, so nearly half, 46% of Google searches have local intent. And the even crazier stat is near me searches have increased by over 900% in recent years. So people are using Google to find local businesses more and more as the years are going on. It's increased by over 900% and it's continuing to increase. So I hope I've made my case. The volume is there. The search intent is there. People are using Google to find local businesses. Now, not only is the volume there, but the intent is very high, right? They're not just searching for cannabis to do some research. They're searching for dispensary near me or dispensary Los Angeles. Why? Because they want to shop nearby. And the stats back that up as well. The conversions that they're boasting is 80% of local searches lead to a customer and 78% of them end up making a purchase. Right? So half of the people using Google are looking for local businesses and out of those half 80% of them actually make a purchase with that business. Right?
Where was this other stat? Here we go. So 76% of people who search for local businesses visit that business within 24 hours. Right? So you have high search volume and then high search intent as well. They're not just searching for research or just browsing. They are searching to find somewhere to shop to make a purchase. Right? About 80% of people are doing that within 24 hours of their search. And the last piece of the puzzle is this local pack stat, right?
So 93% of clicks on the local pack go to the top three results, right? 93%. So what is the local pack? That's this right here. So when I search a local intense search term such as dispensary Los Angeles, the local pack is here. The top three results is what you're seeing here. 93% of the clicks in the local pack goes to these top three results. So it's not only important to rank and have a Google business profile, but it's important to rank high, right?
If you're in the top three, you're getting 93% of those clicks and you're basically printing money. And on top of that, it's completely free to set up, right? This is why I'm so passionate about it. This is why I make content about it. This is why I built a business in the space. You don't have to pay to play. You're not paying for ads. And the second you stop paying for that ad, they take you down and business stops coming in. It's free to set up. It's easy to set up and it's sustainable over the long term. If you rank in the top three, you're printing money cost free. So, you need to set up a Google business profile. I think I made my case. If you do set up a Google business profile, you're 70% more likely to attract location visits and 50% more likely to lead to a purchase uh if you have a complete Google business profile.
Businesses with verified profiles receive over 21,000 views annually through Google search alone. So, if you want to set up a Google business profile today, again, it's super easy to do. It's free. It's straightforward. Just Google something like register for GVP, Google business profile, or just go to google.com/business. You need to sign in with a Google account. So, you need to have like a Gmail account for the business. If you don't have one, you could just register for a Gmail. That's completely free as well. You're going to go to google.com/business.
Click manage now. Sign in using your Google account and just create a new one. Right from there, you want to make sure everything's filled out. Your business name, your business description, your website URL. Start filling out everything on that Google business profile, and that'll give you the perfect foundation to start.
